Hycosan Intense is a preservative free eye drop formulated for people with persistent, severe dry eye symptoms who need more than a standard lubricating drop. It combines 0.2% hyaluronic acid with 2% Ectoin, a naturally derived moisturising compound, to form a long-lasting protective film over the eye's surface and relieve the itching, burning and grittiness that come with dry eye disease.

Standard lubricating drops often need reapplying every hour or two because they wash away quickly. Hycosan Intense uses a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid than many everyday eye drops, giving it a thicker, bioadhesive consistency that clings to the eye surface for longer. This makes it a suitable step up for people who have tried lower-strength drops (including Hycosan's own standard range) without enough relief, though its thicker texture means it isn't designed to be worn with contact lenses in.

How Hycosan Intense Works

Hycosan Intense relieves dry eye symptoms through two complementary mechanisms:

• Hyaluronic acid bioadhesion: the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found throughout the body, including the eye. At the 0.2% concentration used in Hycosan Intense, it forms a regular, stable film across the eye's surface that resists being rinsed away by blinking. This protects the cornea and conjunctiva while helping the eyelid glide smoothly over the eye with each blink.
• Ectoin evaporation barrier: Ectoin is produced naturally by microorganisms that survive in extreme, dehydrating environments such as salt lakes. In Hycosan Intense, it increases water binding at the ocular surface and helps stabilise the tear film's outer lipid layer, reducing how quickly tears evaporate between blinks.

Together, this dual action gives longer-lasting relief than hyaluronic acid alone, which is why Hycosan Intense is positioned for more severe or persistent dry eye symptoms rather than occasional mild dryness.

How to Use

1. Before first use, remove the cap and prime the bottle by holding it tip-down and pressing the base repeatedly until the first drop appears at the nozzle.
2. Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull down your lower eyelid.
3. Hold the bottle upside down, supported with both hands, and press the base firmly and quickly to release one measured drop into each eye. Avoid letting the tip touch your eye or skin.
4. Close your eyes slowly to let the drop spread evenly across the eye's surface, then replace the cap immediately, keeping the tip dry.
5. Usual dosing: one drop in each eye, up to three times a day, or as advised by an eye care professional.
6. Maximum use: adults and children over 12 should not generally exceed 10 uses per day without consulting an ophthalmologist; during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or in children under 12, do not exceed 10 uses per day.
7. If using other eye drops, leave at least 30 minutes between products and apply Hycosan Intense last. Do not use eye ointments at the same time.
8. Do not wear contact lenses while using Hycosan Intense — its higher viscosity makes it unsuitable for use with lenses in.
9. Discard 6 months after opening, and do not use beyond the expiry date. Store below 25°C.

Not suitable for: anyone hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, or children under 6 years old.
