How Imodium Instants Works?

Imodium Instants act directly on the gastrointestinal tract through local opioid receptor binding:

• Inhibition of Peristalsis (Loperamide Hydrochloride 2mg): Loperamide binds selectively to mu-opioid receptors in the circular and longitudinal muscle layers of the intestinal wall. This inhibits the release of acetylcholine and prostaglandins, slowing propulsive intestinal motility (peristalsis) and delaying gastrointestinal transit time.

• Fluid Retention & Anal Tone Enhancement: By prolonging intestinal transit time, the gut mucosa has more time to reabsorb water and electrolytes from fluid stool matter. Loperamide also increases anal sphincter tone, reducing fecal urgency and incontinence.

• Active Ingredient: Loperamide Hydrochloride 2mg per orodispersible tablet.

  • IBS Diarrhoea (Medically Diagnosed Adults 18+): Take 2 tablets initially, followed by 1 tablet as needed per loose stool, up to a maximum of 6 tablets daily.

• Duration: Do not use for more than 48 hours without consulting a doctor.
