Emla Cream 5% is a highly effective local anaesthetic cream widely used to numb the surface of the skin. It is formulated with a eutectic mixture of two active ingredients, Lidocaine and Prilocaine, which work together to penetrate the skin and block pain signals temporarily.

Effective Numbing for Pain Relief

Emla Cream is designed to provide topical anaesthesia, making it ideal for managing pain associated with various minor procedures and treatments:

• Needle Procedures: Excellent for numbing the skin before blood tests, vaccinations, intravenous cannula insertions, and injections, particularly useful for reducing anxiety and pain in children and needle-phobic adults.
• Minor Skin Procedures: Used before superficial skin surgery, dermatological procedures (like mole removal or laser treatment), and skin grafts.

The cream is applied under an occlusive dressing (though this particular tube is supplied without dressings) for a period of time, allowing the active ingredients to fully penetrate and numb the area.
